Responsibility

Responsibility; The state or position of being responsible /or/ A person or thing for which one is responsible!

It was only yesterday morning whilst driving to work that I began to wonder - At what point are you actually deemed responsible? This was further confirmed tonight by some news I was told about by friends; but ill get onto that shortly. Everyone has a level of responsibility, whether it’s for themselves, others, family, friends or work - but how much responsibility & how is it measured. Back to yesterday, Driving to work listening to my iPod i started wondering about this subject. Blink 182 playing loud through my car speakers, looking across the road seeing other people in their cars probably going to work too; but, how much pressure/stress/worries do they have on a day by day basis and how are they measured. What’s a worry to someone I’ve never met before?? Would they be concerned about the things that keep me awake at night and vice versa....... The answer is probably not - I mean why would they worry about things personal to me?

Pulling into the car park at where I work with Blink 182 finishing I remembered doing exactly the same 4-5 years previous:

4-5 Years ago Me -

Id arrive at work with my music blasting out making sure everyone knew id arrived, whilst driving far too quickly into a parking space that was not a parking space to anyone else but been 19 it was sure enough a parking space to me! "Morning, Ay Up - you have a good weekend?" Was how it started, It would take at least a cup of coffee and a good 10 minute chat (Bragging session) before I even thought about sitting at my desk. From this point the day was tackled as it came. I would always care about my job and my employer but somehow certain problems that frustrated me were out of my control, I would rely upon management to solve these issues.

Years went by and with varying roles and duties the laid back me started sitting up. My piers always said (and still say in fact) "That/It comes with age!" I never understood this fully and still don’t see the full picture with the sentence that has been said for generations. Proper responsibility comes in cycles - It can’t be measured by day, week or by month. There is a clear similarity between Age & Responsibility.

Present Me -

I arrive at work feeling strong, prepared and ready for the day ahead. Id be prepped from the night before when I left the office, I would have already planned out what will happen today and how will it be achieved. If it is an important day I could almost guarantee it would have been in my dreams. Office bound I walk straight past the coffee machine as this can wait, there’s far more important things to check on first. "Morning Everyone" & listen - Judging by the response deems how the next thirty minutes will go; is there problems / is it a good day / do you need to tell me anything etc etc you get the drift. The responsibility is enormous and can be overwhelming; taking control is all that you can do.

Five Years ago I was a Traffic Clerk today I am a Company Director.

Age has played a huge part in this path - I could not imagine five years ago doing what I do now. I have developed within myself and learnt to be responsible. If none of us had duties and responsibilities I wonder what it would be like?

I first mentioned that I was told about some news tonight by friends. As you can see from what I have spoken about I feel as though time forces responsibility on people and that you need to step back and see complete time windows like my five years. It is tough to recognise the success / responsibility similarity in short bursts - I mean are you any more responsible now than you were two hours ago or a week ago or sixteen weeks and three days............. A picture of a scan followed by "She’s Pregnant" was what I heard, what I though was different. I though to myself when he got that news that he was going to be a parent he instantly took on a complete new level of responsibility, something that cant take five years to form. This was instinct, this was forced responsibility.

This takes me to my last definition and final thoughts...........

Responsibility; Something for which one is responsible; a duty, obligation, or burden.

Responsibility is earned or Forced!

So this is it?

I have never done a Blog before now.

I have been told to Blog by lots of different people and for lots of different reasons but Ive never until now seen any point of it.......

I suppose a Blog is for people to read, comment, enjoy and 'criticise' but looking further than that a Blog is for the writer! Its an aid to help reflect on past times and creates a ritious feeling for the individual. As this is my first blog I cant help but wonder 'Hmm, What do I say??' Do I talk about something informative, creative or down right silly? The truth is im listening the The Libertines and waiting for my lunch to cook so all Im really thinking is 'Hmm, Im so hungry oh and Hungover!'

Im sure the next Blog I do will be one of the more interesting topics; untill then I will be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to pick up on something that I can use - Politicians, The Economy, Global warming, Business are just a few of the topics I will NOT be Blogging about.
